Give Help

Volunteer

See below the various volunteering roles that are undertaken.
The successful operation of our Foodbank depends on the efforts of our volunteers and we are eternally grateful to them. Within Perth and Kinross Foodbank we have always been fortunate to have had a dedicated team of volunteers with very low turnover and a result we are unable to consider taking on new volunteers at this time.

Tesco National Collections

These normally take place at the end of November/start of December each year.  While some people may be unable to volunteer on a regular basis during the year, these provide one-off opportunities for volunteering.  We normally start to look for volunteers for this effort during October.

Warehouse volunteer

This involves weighing, sorting and storing donated food before it’s made into parcels for clients to collect. This ensures that we have the right food available at all times.

Voucher coordinator

Foodbanks work with front line agencies who in turn refer clients to foodbanks. Some foodbanks have over 100 referral partners and in this role the volunteer coordinates the issue and distribution of vouchers to these agencies. Once the vouchers are redeemed the data they contain needs to be added to our central database. Full training and support is available.

Helping at a foodbank centre

To meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients over a cup of tea, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support.
